Unable to select mount point for iPod Video (5th gen.)

I have a problem with rbutil program on archlinux (64bit, standart kernel). When I plug in the iPod Video (5th gen.), it is detected by the utility at the correct /dev/sd* (using autodetect), however, it says that I have to select a mount point manually, but I can't because the list of mount points consists of some repeating system files. That's the only thing which prevents me from installing rockbox on my iPod. If anyone knows what's wrong, please help me out.

Have you mounted the Ipod, and was the Ipod mounted when you opened the configuration dialog? If not mount it, press the "refresh" button right of the list and try again.

It looks like it was mounted already in /run/user/media directory, I can browse the iPod with thunar, but the list is still the same.

EDIT: gparted reports that space on iPod is not allocated, is this normal?

No. Or, to be more specific: the Ipod should show two partitions. The first is of type 0 ("Empty"). This partition contains the Apple firmware (and the Rockbox bootloader). The second partition is of type 0b ("FAT32") and contains data (your music as well as the main Rockbox installation). The second partition should be mounted on your PC.

I'm wondering if your system has a lot of mounts of /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc or if retrieving the mounted filesystems on your machine fails. Can you please post the output of "mount"? The list shown in the dropdown box is read directly from the system, so it should be there, and I'm not aware of any problems with that (yet :) ).

Also, I assume you're aware that the dropdown list will scroll if you hover the arrows at the top and bottom of the list?

I'll go and check it out.

UPDATE: Fixed it, had to replace /etc/mtab file with a symlink to /proc/self/mounts.

PS: I have to read dmesg output more often.
