24bit 96kHz flac files skip constantly on 4th gen ipod photo <<<SOLVED>>>

<< < (2/3) > >>

soap:
How many bands of the EQ are actually enabled when you have it "on", MikeyL?

saratoga:
If eq makes songs skip you're probably doing something weird like turning on a lot of unnecessary bands.

Then you shouldn't be using rockbox. We only do 16 bit, and I doubt many of the players we run on can do more anyway. Also, rockbox will downsample everything to 44.1kHz.

I know, it just saves you the hassle of re-encoding everything at 44.1kHz, most of my flacs are 44.1kHz.

I don't have £500 to spend on a high end media player ...

So i am more than happy! Incredibly impressed that rockbox plays these files at all!

Personally i am glad to have left the land of mp3, i'd rather listen to a chrome cassette!  ::)

Spot on, using less bands solves the problem! Plays fine when using only 3 bands,  :D

thanks soap & saratoga

And that's a valid point,

but just a single time setting up a Foobar2000 (or other media player) "convert" action with your Rockbox device as the destination drive and you can "copy" said high-res files over exactly as fast as you can from the file browser since your CPU is assuredly capable of converting dozens of times faster than your Rockbox device's HDD can write.

toxaco:

Thanks for the pointer, i've never used foobar200, looks like serious software!

it'll make a change from dboweramp ...

i tried it on a mac, but there were no settings in the flac encoder to change the bit depth and sample rate

it just re-encoded it to 24bit 96kHz !  vlc on my android couldn't play it  :o (falling about in hysterical laughter)

it's really not important, it was more of an experiment to see if they would play, you need superhuman hearing to notice much difference from 44.1kHz,

Vivo X1 anyone? what a joke! first dr dre beats phones now "audiophile" androids!!! it will never end . . . .

Thank god for Rockbox it ROCKS!
