Ipod mini (2nd gen) screen-off mode?

hey,
i have a ipod mini (2nd gen) ''mp3''player, i was wondering if there is anyway to make the screen turn completly off to conserve battery power while playing, i'm not talking about the backlight no...

any help will be much appreciated

IIRC its not enabled on the mini because it didn't save any real power.   You'd have to search the forums and IRC logs to be sure though.

As saratoga stated on small B&W screens the difference in power usage is unmeasurable. Besides screen is perfectly readable without backlight so its somewhat useful.
