How to jump to the folder of the currently playing track (solved)
« on: May 01, 2013, 09:17:47 AM »
Hi,

I tried to find the easiest way to jump to the folder of the track that is currently playing but failed. The shortcut feature could help (I could shortcut then activate it), but seems like RockBox doesn't support shortcuts for the playing track.

When I was using Cowon iAudio 7, I frequently used the default behavior when the player always showed the file in the corresponding folder just by clicking a single or a couple of keys.

Thanks,

Max

Which device? For the Clip+ and Clip Zip it's literally just a button press (the middle button). I've turned "Auto-Change directory" on

It's Clip+, but I doubt this is the feature. The manual says "Control what Rockbox does when it reaches the end of a directory". But I meant is the scenario when I chose a directory with sub-directories, shuffle everything inside and while listening to a track number let's say 123, I like it so much I wanted to stop playing my shuffle "all-bands" list and listen only this performer (the folder where track 123 resides). My only choice at the moment is to look at the "file info", remember the place and manually locate it with Files browser. There could be a better tool, for example allowing to jump from the file info path to the corresponding folder.

I think "Follow Playlist" might be what you're after.

Follow Playlist.
This option determines what directory the File Browser displays first. If Follow Playlist is set to Yes, when you enter the File Browser from the WPS, you will find yourself in the same directory as the currently playing file. If Follow Playlist is set to No, when you enter the File Browser from the WPS, you will find yourself in the directory you were in when you last left the File Browser.

I think "Follow Playlist" might be what you're after.

a third option option which combines the merit of both settings would be ideal.

for instance, hitting the select button brings you to the last played song, but pressing home & entering files from the main menu will start from the root folder / the folder you last left.
