Sansa Clip+ stuck in Bootloader USB mode
« on: April 10, 2013, 03:33:37 PM »
Rockbox was working perfectly on my Sansa Clip+ until I connected it to my computer and transferred some more music to the root MUSIC folder (and removed the stock music that came with the player). Having completed the transfer, I ejected it in the OS and unplugged it, but somehow it was stuck with the USB connection picture in the display and none of the buttons responsive, so I powered it off by holding down the power button.

After this, the Clip won't boot into Rockbox (File Not Found), and holding down left during bootup does nothing. After a minute or so it says to plug it in using the USB cable, after which it goes into Bootloader USB mode. I've tried both OS X and Windows, and neither of them recognizes the device being plugged in while in the Bootloader mode, so I can't remove or reinstall Rockbox. Am I completely out of luck, and the Clip is bricked?

How do I do that, other than holding down left during bootup? As I said, that does absolutely nothing.

If you can't boot into the original firmware that usually means something has gone very wrong with the flash chip, as the OF is stored on a part of the flash that is not accessible ordinarily.

I would make very certain that you can't get it to boot.

Oh well, I guess I'm just screwed then, as I've tried holding left while booting up multiple times with no result. I just don't understand how something can go so wrong from just unplugging the USB cable and powering off when it hangs for no good reason. Thanks anyway.
