Could not open ipod: permission denied

(1/1)

neil:
Hi

I'm trying to install via the Rockbox utility. At the 'install' stage I'm getting an error message “Could not open Ipod: permission denied”. I understand I need to get permission by using sudo or by logging in as root... but I don't know how to do this. :-[

Could someone talk me through what is needed.

Thanks in advance.

Neil

I case anyone else is interested, I ended up installing the .deb here:

http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/www.getdeb.net/getdeb/ubuntu/pool/apps/r/rbutil/rbutil_1.3.1-1~getdeb1_i386.deb

and then used 'gksudo RockboxUtility'

This worked fine, the mountpoint was detected automatically and the install was successful.

It works the same way with the binary we provide. If there's still a problem for you you need to be more specific.
