Freeze before playback with certain podcasts

(1/1)

megakacktus:
I recently rockboxed my Sansa Fuze v2 and most everything works great. However, I have run into a strange issue with some specific podcasts. When I try to listen to Above & Beyond's "Group Therapy" trance music podcast or the CBC's "Ideas" podcast in MP3 format, Rockbox displays the message "Loading..." on the screen, then freezes for about 10 seconds before playing. This issue does not happen with any other podcasts I subscribe to. I have a 16GB Kingston mSD card plugged in, although all of my podcasts are stored in the Sansa's internal memory. I am completely stumped, and any help would be appreciated.

I tried ABGT021_649.mp3 and there is no delay on my clip.  My clip doesn't have album art enabled though since it has no color screen.  Maybe that is the issue?

I've tried the file on an e200 and I also get a rather long delay before playback starts. Checking the file reveals an almost 300kiB album art embedded into it. Stripping the ID3 tags removed the delay, so I'm rather confident to say this is caused by the size of the embedded album art.

This seems to fix the problem. Is there a batch tool for Linux to remove album art from podcasts?

There are various tools that can do this. I used id3v2 to remove the v2 tag, it can also selectively remove tags.
