playlist FRUSTRATION
lefticy:
OK after many attempts i have finally installed RB on my FUZE. i am a big IPOD hater and refuse to give up. and this is a last ditch attempt to do a very simple thing.
i use LINUX when ever possible. my OLD MP3 player was a dell dj.. i used GNOMAD2 to complete a very simple task of drag and drop the songs on to the DELL DJ then WITHIN the DJ to create the playlists. all this was done while connected to the PC. it took only 3 to 4 clicks of the mouse to complete.
i have read many posts and have tried the following programs ( linux based) to duplicate the tasks. banshee xmms rhythombox amrock adacious and exaile. all failed.
i want to use the RB program because it is superior to the crap that sansa installed. the frustration is that a simple task should be simple. i do not have the time to MULTI click through menues ; with text that is smaller then legal disclaimers; to generate a playlist. most of the posts i have read get into the TECHNO bable about file management / type.
i have discoverd the only way to duplicate the simple playlist is the following
1 connect and open the FUZE navigate to the section you want and create a folder that will become the playlist
2 navigate to the file/folder that has the music ( on my MicroSD card) and then drag and drop the song to the playlist
the problem with the above procedures is that it creates multiplu flies of the same song in different parts of the storage
nothing in the user manual nor on the net or forums describe this method.
if i have offenned anyone i am sorry.
i am just looking for a music manager that is simple to use.

Not sure I understand what part of that was the question, but if you just want to make playlists, you can either use rockbox directly by saving the dynamic playsts it generates, or you can use almost any music player software that supports M3U (which virtually all do). Just load tracks on the player into a playlist and then save as M3U (which is really just a text file containing a list of files to play).

thanks for replying to my post ...
i will explain it this way.. using gnomad2 with the mp3 player (DEL dj) connected to the PC ( ubuntu 12.04) i could drag and drop ( from different files and folders and external sources) the music into the player.. then make a playlist on the player using the gnomad2 interface . Gnomad2 is similar to itunes. i forgot to mention that i do not want the music stored on my PC. i want all the management to take place on the mp3 player. (employer forbids the use of any PC to store personal files)
can anyone suggest a linux based music based player that uses M3U
I am to deduce that a text file in the M3U format will not create a duplicate files of the same mp3 files ??
my major disappoiment is with the user guide and lack of clear explaintions as how to do simple tasks. apple's claim to fame is simplicty
the rockbox is far superiour to apple's itunes and i could see right off the bat.
i will be trying to simplifiy the playlist issues and will post a simple how to .. if i can figure it out.
sorry for the rant i just dont like objects thinking for me.

Thats up to the software you use so i can't say for sure, but I don't recall seeing a program that worked that way.

And you like Apple? I'm amazed.
If you want the documentation to improve, then help out.
