Rockbox Utility crashes on autodetect/install
(1/1)
Shadowsong:
I've been trying to install Rockbox on a Sansa e250 v1 firmware 01.02.15F. At first I've tried to autodetect my device. It crashed. I've set the drive and device kind manually. Unfortunately it still crashed just after clicking the install button, displaying such message (My system is in Polish, but I hope the relevant information may be still derived from it):

I have tried installing Rockbox using my PC and my laptop, both running Windows 7 x64. Unfortunately both display the same behaviour.
Would you be so kind to offer some advice?
saratoga:
I don't know about rockbox utility specifically, but its probably a good idea to copy and paste the log from Help > Troubleshoot in rockbox utility.
Shadowsong:
Thank you for your suggestion.
Still, it is not necessarily an issue with the Rockbox Utility as manual installation also yielded a failure. For some reason the bootloader installer wouldn't find my Sansa.
Eventually, I've managed to install Rockbox on my father's old laptop (32-bit Windows XP)

It shouldn't crash though. However, are you absolutely sure your player is an e200v1? I've heard about problems with autodetection with other Sandisk players (clip+ IIRC) but not with the e200. If sansapatcher didn't find your player this also sounds a bit like your player not being an e200v1 -- Sandisk is known to ship refurbished e200 players with wrong case (i.e. the case stating v2 but the hardware being v1 and similar). Since you managed to install Rockbox using a different PC I'd be really interested in a confirmation that it was detected as e200v1 on that machine :)
Either way, autodetection isn't unproblematic and on my todo list for a complete rewrite.
