install/uninstall
« on: March 26, 2013, 09:09:28 PM »
I am feeling extremely frustrated right now.  I had the gaul to PM a moderator but the response was in my opinion rude and unhelpful.  In addition I was told I was wrong to PM and that it was not helpful. I'm so sorry but neither was the response was not helpful either. Instead of being  elitists  all of you should try to help people. You want us to search (sometimes for hours) through the forums to find answers, but this does not always  help. I have other things to do too. Try making the manuals easier to read  and more user friendly for those of us who have little experience and just want our devices to work.

My Sansa Fuze v. 2 is having a serious problem after trying several times to install RockBox. Now it says I need to have 90mb for the muisic DB, but I removed all of the music from the device. So I tried to uninstall Rockbox using the RockBox utility now I have even less space. Where's it all going?

I was going to try a manual install using my MAC 10.5.8 but I can't understand some of the instructions like using the zip I downloaded and that other strange file that begins with an  "m" The links in the manual don't work so I can't follow them. I'd really like help with this and a little more understanding form those in POWER.

Thanks

This is actually one of the forum rules you agreed to when you joined this site.  Moderators are volunteers.  They do not appreciate being spammed by things that would be better handled in the forums by the entire community.  I'm sorry that you feel entitled to demand special treatment and did not get it, but that is not how this works.  If you want help, you need to be considerate and follow the same rules as everyone else.

The 90MB message is from the sandisk software I think.  It sounds like you have a corrupt file system.  Have you tried checking the file system for errors?  I suspect that will fix your problem.

I was going to try a manual install

I strongly recommend not doing this.

I do not/did not demand special service. I'm sorry you misunderstood. I made a mistake out of a strong need for answers and I don't need to be upbraided for making a mistake. As if others (perhaps you as well ) have not made them. I explained that I felt frustrated and I apologized. Sorry but the individuals response could have been handled differently. Mine too, though it was born of frustration from hours spent looking for solutions and not finding them. I'm happy this product is available and that there are volunteers to run it.

I PMed this individual because he/she had responded to one of my forum messages.  I was not spamming. I've looked through the forums for answers but have not found them Now it seems my device has no space left on it and I don't know where it's gone or what to do. I will follow your suggestion and check for errors but on my PC instead of the MAC. If you would be so kind to point me to the appropriate threads I'd appreciate it . Of course if that's allowed. I'll have to go back and read the rules. Initially I didn't read them too thoroughly because I've found that most forums have similar rules. My mistake. Again I apologize

Technical writing is a specialized skill Not every tech savvy person is up to the task.  Some of the communications I've read are just not clear to me. The same applies to the manuals--a syntactical problem I think.

Thank You

Yes, you did.  In this thread.  Let me quote you doing it:

You're claiming that you "should" be able to email people and demand help regardless of the forum policy because you want to.  Like I said, I'm sorry you feel that way, but thats not how this works.  You can use the forums on our terms, or not use them at all.

Regardless, since you seem intent on this pointless argument, I'm going to lock this thread.
