View port visualization mode for theme'ers.
« on: March 22, 2013, 08:06:48 PM »
I had this idea. So I am doing themes, and working with view ports. One thing is very frustrating when you have allot of view ports is that you can't really see where they are. Because sometimes when I want to add a view port it intersects with another and it crashes the theme. I was thinking of a view port visualization mode were each view port is highlighted in a bright color with its x and y dimensions displayed in them. This would help me and I am sure allot of other people too.

I don't see much point of that in Rockbox. It would be a useful feature for the Theme Editor (maybe it already does that? Not sure), but unfortunately that isn't maintained these days. If anyone feels like picking up maintainance of the Theme Editor please do so.

You could use the application you're making the graphics with to work out the viewport dimensions.

The Theme Editor already does this, it even allowed you to pick up, move, and resize viewports...but it very quickly fell out of sync, and no one really cared too much about it.

You could trivially make a mock-up of you theme/viewports in <insert_image_manipulator_here> and do it this way, I have been known to do so in the past.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will try drawing my view ports in my graphics editor for now.
