does sansa clip zip work in car mode?

i have rockbox 3.13 installed.

when i put power onto the player the volume is muted for some reason.

obviously this makes the car mode unusable for me.

any one else had this issue?

That has nothing to do with car mode.

yes ok, but this behavior makes the car mode unusable for my clip zip because no sound comes out when there is external power to the device.

external power to the device is essential for the use of car mode.

i was wondering if there were any settings that i've missed or is the car mode just unusable for the sansa clip zip?

Thats not a rockbox thing. If sound doesn't come out of your player on external power, something is wrong with your player, your power supply, etc.

ok, thanks. so now i know that i've not missed any settings on my player.

the problem seems to be some kind of earthing problem with saabs.

haven't found a fix yet though.

I have the same problem with my toyota matrix and sansa clip. It worked with my e200 sansa, so it's pretty frustrating.

In case you're still looking, I got my clip to work in car mode with one of these:

It required a few rca->headphone jack adapters, but there are cheaper ground loop isolators that go from headphone jack to headphone jack on amazon and presumably elsewhere.
