Clip ZIP: Timeout issue when transferring files

(1/1)

thehirsches:
I've searched the forum and manual and cannot seem to find an answer to my issue.

For some reason, when I try to copy files to or from my clip zip to Windows 7, after about 30 seconds, the device seems to timeout and disappear.
The screen of the zip turns off after a few seconds, but when I press the power button it continues to show the USB icon, but the drives do not reappear.

I've tried connecting in both modes, but one (Pressing select while off and connecting) does not even show the SD card in windows explorer.

I never had this issue with my old Clip+, so am not sure what is causing the timeout.

I am using the newest Rockbox build on a Clip Zip purchased yesterday with the newest factory firmware.

I appreciate any suggestions.

USB isn't entirely stable for some people on some of the Clip players.

Does this mean it is a hardware software issue?   Is it something I am stuck with or will a future firmware update possibly address this?

Does it work for you in the sandisk firmware?  If so, that would rule out a hardware issue most likely.
