Rockboxed Fuze + recognises SD card, but PC doesn't
(1/1)
Bazza:
Greetings, everyone. I do hope I'm not asking something asked before, but I've had a good look and can't see quite the same thing.
I've Rockboxed my 8gb Fuze +, and it works like a dream. Only thing is, this is my second Fuze + (first one didn't survive the washing machine :-[ ) and I already had plenty of music on an 8gb SD card, which fortunately wasn't in the Fuze when it drowned. Now when I insert it into the new Fuze, Rockbox and the OF recognise it perfectly, and I can play the music on it (as well as what I've put in the Music folder), but my PC doesn't recognise the card, so I don't see how I can add or delete files. All the other Folders show up fine.
Any ideas, anyone? Greatly appreciated!

If you are using Windows, you can try to go into the Device Manager and uninstall the fuze+. Then unplug and replug: Windows will detect it again, hopefully with the SD card.

Thanks very much. That doesn't actually work :-\ but I wonder if it's a Windows 8 thing? Anyway, by worrying away at it, I did discover that when I load the OF the card shows up fine under Windows Explorer, so at least I can add and remove things to and from the card before rebooting RB. I'm always vaguely surprised when things work at all, so I'm very happy with RB even with one or two glitches (e.g. having to do a long reset after unplugging the USB), which has transformed my listening experience! And despite some of the hysterical posts on other forums about the impossibility of using Fuze+, I love it for both sound and usage, though the OF is admittedly clunky and un-transparent.

Thanks for the feedback. This is interesting because I think it works on Windows 7 so perhaps Windows 8 is more picky about it.? I will try to find someone with a Windows 8 to test on myself.
Bazza:
OK, thanks!
