crockbox - ipod classic gen 6
ignoramus:
Hi, I'm new to this site.
I recently installed emcore + rockbox and was really happy that I was able to stop using itunes and play all my flac files.
It worked wonderfully although seemed a bit buggy. Every now and again the player would freeze and start buzzing which only a reboot would remedy.
That no longer seems to occur but I am now unable to access the ipod via USB port anymore.
I've tried on a few different computers and all that happens is the ipod shows up in win explorer as "removable disk".
If I try to access it, I would get a popup asking me to format the drive (which I declined).
When I connect my ipod to the computer I also sometimes see a message popup: "device driver software was not successfully installed - emCore debugger - no driver found"
I am running Win7, emCORE v0.2.3 r858, ROCKbox r31516-120101
Any useful advice appreciated. I am a fan of this software and realise it was not really released for my ipod version.

First of all, update to a current development build, you're running a version that's more than a year old

Thanks for replying. I'll try to find the latest version.
I'm not sure how to upgrade though as I can't connect to my ipod via USB.
(I can connect when it's in USMBoot mode though)
Apologies if my question seems dumb but I am a complete novice.

The most current build for the iPod Classic is always located here.

Via the emCORE main menu, navigate to:
Tools -> Run Rockbox fallback image -> <press Select>
You should now be able to mount the device and extract the binary linked above to the root of the device.
Safely eject the device and reboot.
Enjoy the many improvements that have occurred over the last 1 year+.

Thanks so much for the advice.
I'll attempt this as soon as I have a couple of hours free.
