Rockbox hangs on startup

(1/1)

sputnik2102:
Hi all.

I installed RockBox last night, it worked fine for a while, then after turning it off and on again the bootloader runs and i can select rockbox, after that the initial rockbox screen is displayed but nothing happens.  When i connect it to Linux i get the following message on dmesg:

--- Quote ---[33505.340087] usb 2-4: new high-speed USB device number 33 using ehci_hcd
[33505.473007] usb 2-4: New USB device found, idVendor=ffff, idProduct=e000
[33505.473017] usb 2-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
[33505.473025] usb 2-4: Product: emCORE Debugger
[33505.473031] usb 2-4: Manufacturer: freemyipod.org
[33568.333360] usb 2-4: USB disconnect, device number 33

--- End quote ---

So it's disconnecting, windows won't show the drive.

I can get into UMSBoot and add copy over installer-ipodclassic-r859-20120102.ubi, but i can't access the main drive to reset rockbox.

Any ideas guys?

i then selected firmware fallback, and can't get into the settings option on boot.

Heh, I totally misread your post initially - sorry if you managed to read it in the few seconds before I edited it.

If all you're looking to do is reset Rockbox, you can do this via the "Tools" menu in emCORE:

Tools - Clear Rockbox configuration

If you are wanting to mount and update Rockbox with a more recent binary*, you can (probably {it can be flakey}) mount the under Rockbox by booting the fallback image - again from the emCORE "Tools" menu:

Tools - Run Rockbox fallback image

*This link will always point to the most current version of Rockbox for your device - the build that comes with the installer is ancient - many improvements have been made since then.
