Voice volume: how to AND possible settings for sapi5 in rockbox utility
« on: March 04, 2013, 10:18:18 PM »
Hi there.

I am working now for years with Rocbox, and surely there is no jukebox firmware who simpely can beat it.

First of all: the impressive sound settings.
especially when you know how to use the compressor ed.

afhter several years using the Cowon x5l, i have now an ipod g6 80gb. crappy look, but oke, a lot of gigs and more power at higher res.

I am using a dutch sapi5 voice, Scansoft Claire. clear and good understandable. but; is there an option to put the volume a bit down? the encoder can not get any lower than 100% (1.00).

Do i have to program in sapi itself the volume? or can i program it in the rockbox utility under

config/tts&encoder/configure tts/
 language: nl
 voice: Scansoft Claire 22khz
 speed: 0
 options:?????

i did found in the api:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms720151(v=vs.85).aspx

What is the best way?

Greets,

Gyuri

You can't easily. This is a somewhat pointless limitation in the configuration dialog -- there is no reason to limit the volume to a range of 1 - 10. You could save the settings, close Rockbox Utility and edit the value in the configuration file directly. But since those limits are not really useful anyway I've changed this in the current development version. You can get a binary at the URL in my signature. Note that this is a development version. If you experience other problems with it you're welcome to provide feedback on it :)
