my sansa clip zip will not charge

the battery of my sansa clip zip seems to have run out and it wont charge. all it does when plugged in is stay on for about 30 seconds and then it shuts off.

when i connected it to the computer it showed up for that same amount of time and then lost access to it.

it has had another, non-rockbox related problem, with the backlight, but this seems to be something else
