.is_audio_player file work with RockBox?
« on: February 19, 2013, 02:50:11 PM »
I have a Clip+ running the newest version of RockBox. I use Banshee on Ubuntu 12.04 to manage my music which is all in FLAC format. Before putting RockBox on my Clip+, I created a .is_audio_player file on my player which I listed output_format for .ogg and .mp3 files. Banshee would convert the files from FLAC to Ogg automatically. Ever since installing RockBox, the .is_audio_player file does not seem to be working. Whenever I copy music through Banshee, it no longer converts any of the files and I am left with only FLAC files on my Clip+.

Is the use of .is_audio_player not supported if RockBox firmware is loaded? Is there a way around to edit the firmware that will force Banshee to convert FLAC files to ogg or mp3?

This has nothing to do with Rockbox. It appears as removeable disk to the PC, so any file the PC is looking for on it is a file the PC is looking on it. It's also the PC doing the conversion. Rockbox doesn't care what additional files you put on disk.

Thank you bluebrother for your reply.  So it sounds like having Rockbox installed should not affect the .is_audio_player file.  Must be the way my computer is looking at the device now. I will do some more digging into my computer now.

As far as your computer is concerned, the device is now simply a removable hard drive, as opposed to a portable audio player.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
