sansa fuze installation problem
« on: February 18, 2013, 12:55:14 AM »
I've tried 2 different sanza fuze (v.1 and v.2)players on both a Mac (10.0.8) and a Dell Inspiron 9100 XP svc pk 3 Media Center edition v. 2002. After getting the copy of the sansa firmware and going through the entire installation process, there was no rockbox on either devices. What am I doing wrong/not doing? I've already intalled rockbox on one sansa fuze without any problems, but I don't remember which version it was or what platform I used. Please keep in mind I'm not as tech savvy as many of your members, so be gentle.

Thank You,
Robert

sansa fuze not showing rockbox
« Reply #1 on: February 18, 2013, 03:30:59 AM »
I've asked a similar question elsewhere. I'm a new user so I'm still trying to learn where to get answers. I've read the manual and looked through the forums, but haven't found my problem: it seems the installation was successful --that is according to the application-- but the original firmware is still on my sansa fuze v. 2. I've tried several times on Mac 10.5.8 and Dell Inspiron 9100 xp svp 3 media center ed. v.2002. Still no Rockbox on mu fuze players *v.1 & v.2) Any ideas?

Thanks

Usually this means you installed rockbox to some other drive on the pc. It needs to go on the main storage of your fuze.

I'm not sure what you mean since I only had the sansa connected

Your computer has several drives in it, one of which is the Sansa.  If you installed and nothing ended up on the Sansa, you probably selected a different drive.  Repeat the installation, this time taking care to select the Sansa rather then some other drive.

For instance the drive that (I'm guessing) Windows is installed on.

Your avatar looks a little perturbed (smile) OK yes I did install the firmware on the Sansa--I do know aty least that much. So now I've started over. Today I successfully installed the most up-to-date firmware form the sandisk website. I hope this won't interfere with rockbox. Only problem is I don't know what's meant by "manufacturer's mode" Please bring me up=to-date on this.

Thank You,
Robert (my real name)

So sorry. Some of this applies to my Sansa e260R- the Rhapsody. However I'm sure I installed the rockbox firmware on the Sansa Fuze's root directory. Guess I'll have to try again
