Complete Erasion of Rockbox on Sansa Clip

bobbie.ef:
Hi,
today i wanted to upload Rockbox on my old Sansa Clip but now i'm really pissed off a little bit because it doesn' work.

First of all (as i can remember) i tried to upload Rockbox Utility. It says, that Original FW is needed to be installed, so i downloaded the FW file from Sandisk and putted on my Clip. Now, i can hardly remember what has happened because i've done many other things at the same time. I guess, that the Clip doesn't upload all the necessary files.

Status of now: When i start the Clip, Rockbox screen shows up but it shows Firmware cannot be loaded and please plug in USB. When i now plug in USB i can see the Clip in the Explorer and move files on and off the clip. When i plug out the USB cable the error shows up: PANIC*Unhandled masked IRQ 03: INT_USB (status 0x00000008). In the meantime i tried to put on an original sansa FW .bin file on the clip and started the clip in the forced msc mode. It shows that firmware will be upgraded but after a restart the same things are shown up as described above. What can i do? Do i have a chnace to save my Clip's life? ;)

Now i'm currently formating the Clip. But i do not think that this change anything ;(

Sorry for my english - not a native speaker...

Thanks in advance.
Bob

Copy a firmware file to your player and reboot into the sandisk firmware.

For what its worth this is in the uninstall section of the manual in more detail.

i already tried this but it doesn't work. firmware will be installed but after restart player still starts with the rockbox screen...

Are you trying to flash a bin file that has been patched with rockbox?  If so, don't do that.  You need to use a new one from sandisk that does not include the rockbox bootloader.

Hithere,

My problem is kind of the same.

I jumped into installing RockBox on my Sansa Clip (not +) a little recklessly and impatient, probably made some mistakes on not reading instructions well and making some wrong assumptions.

Now when turning on the Clip I get:

- loading firmware File not found (and displaying the RockBox logo)
- display: Plug USB cable
when I plug in USB:
- Bootloader USB mode
when I remove the USB cable:
- Unhandled masked IRQ 03: INT_USB (status 0x00000008)

So there are still remains of RockBox on it.

(I can get it working into Sandisk firmware by holding 'back' button while powering on)

After my f*ing up until now, I proved to myself I'm not savy enough to just keep on experimenting with this. I think I'm lucky I can currently use my player by forcing it with the 'back' button.

I want to bring it back in original state, and then try to follow the manual literately and obedient to still get RockBox on it.
Can somebody please guide me how to remove the current RockBox remains and bring my Clip back to 'factory state' before giving it a new shot?

(I found some posting with a tutorial on recovering, but it mentioned that it was only for the Clip+, and should not be used for the Clip.)

Tia!
