Playback failure on Droid X2

(1/1)

Strife89:
I'm having some weird issues with playback on a Motorola Droid X2. (Stock firmware, Android 2.3.5, rooted)

With certain files, attempting to start playback on them results in the display of the WPS as expected, but audio playback (and perhaps decoding?) never begins. Attempting to stop playback or to switch to the next track in the directory results in Rockbox crashing, dropping me back to my launcher - and, strangely, leaving a notification about the last track I tried to play.

On other occasions, the first file I play will work fine, but manually switching tracks/playlists will eventually cause this same failure to occur - the exact duration and track seems to be random, though some tracks have failed on me each and every time.

Save for TexasRockbox's Cabbie theme port, I'm using default settings. I've tested several builds over the past week (the Droid was recently acquired, so I don't know how long the issue has existed).

I tested personal builds of 42a725f-130129 today, on the Droid and an HTC Magic and Acer Iconia A200. Both devices play the files without issues, while the Droid still stumbles.

Here's a sample file which consistently failed to play on the Droid.

Has anyone else been having problems like this, or is it just me?

EDIT: And in case anyone wonders: the files in question reside on the Droid's internal storage. They play back fine in VLC on my laptop.

I tried copying the linked Vorbis file to the microSD card, and directed Rockbox to it. It plays fine from there.

You should be able to tell if decoding is tripping over itself by compiling a build with test plugins included and running the file in question through test_codec.

I made a build of the same version and ran the linked file through a decoder speed test. It completed successfully.
