rockbox doesn't show up after installation.

If rockbox doesn't run, it means you didn't install it.  Go back and repeat the install directions until you complete the process.  If you can't figure them out, explain what step you got stuck on.

Sounds like you haven't installed the bootloader. Is your Ipod actually a 5G and not a Nano5G or Classic? Furthermore, how did you install Rockbox? Did you use Rockbox Utility? Did it show any errors? What is the output of its System Trace dialog?
