From that log it looks like a lot of the files on your drive are corrupt, so I think fsck was not able to repair the file system.  You should probably just reformat it.

ok, so you have filesystem errors. Things failing in this case is to be expected.

No, this is nonsense. Rockbox Utility isn't capable of (un)mounting anything on Linux. If the Linux kernel detects filesystem errors on a FAT device it automatically remounts it as read only. You should be able to find information about this in the kernel log.

Fix the filesystem errors. Everything else won't work.
