Clip Zip Installation failure: Wrong OF?
« on: January 15, 2013, 08:48:21 PM »
I have now failed using the automatic Installer in Linux and Win7, and with manual installation in Win7.

The manual installation failed saying that it didn't recognize the OF file. It seems to be looking for the 01.01.18 version,( it gave a list of what it wanted). The one on my player, hence the one I'm using for the installs, is 01.01.20.

If this is the reason for the failures:
Can I do the install using the older version without first rolling back the version on the player?
When will the newer firmware be supported in the installers?

If this isn't the reason for the failures:
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Harry

Yes, and in fact there is no other way to install rockbox.  Whatever firmware was on the player when you began won't be there when you overwrite it with the rockbox bootloader+new firmware file.

You're using a really old installer.  The current one we provide is rockbox utility.  It installs everything.  If you need a command line tool, you'll have to compile one from source or use an older firmware version.

Thanks.
Just to be clear: When the automatic installer asks for a copy of the OF, I don't worry about matching that with the version that is on the player but provide the older one?

You can use any firmware version you want.  It literally does not matter.
