Clip+ Dead After Software Crash
« on: January 15, 2013, 12:01:38 PM »
Hi,
I have had my Clip+ for about 7 weeks now, running Rockbox with no problems. However, I was walking home this afternoon listening to it when the music stopped. I thought it might be the battery so took it out to look at, but there was an error message on the screen. This vanished too quickly for me to remember or record. Now, the Clip+ won't do anything. It won't turn on with any combination of buttons being pressed. Nothing at all happens when I plug it into my PC so I can't access the internal memory or the expansion memory.

Am I screwed, or is there something I can try to fix it?

Many thanks.

Have you tried hard-resetting it by holding the power button for at least 30 seconds?

Which version are you running? If it's before 3.12, you might be hitting a (since then fixed) bug where this sometimes happens. If this is the problem, waiting a few days for the battery to run out helps.

I think it must be that, as it had very little battery left when the crash happened, and I just tried it again a few minutes ago and it's working again. I thought I had the most recent version though, as I only flashed it 7 weeks ago.

Could you check the version? If this still happens with 3.12, we'd like to know...
