That's not a command line, that the "run" prompt. If you don't understand what the manual means by some term please ask first (or better, stop doing it and use the recommended way instead. People (including me) have put a lot of time into making up an installation procedure that is easy to use. It's not really nice to see a lot of time wasted that could have been put into improving Rockbox Utility just because someone decided to ignore all recommendations. Yes, I'm quite annoyed by this.)

Which is exactly what I suspected: the version of mkamsboot you're using (i.e. the latest binary on our download server) doesn't recognize the firmware version you wanted it to patch. Plus, there is an error message, so no problem with mkamsboot here (except that it's outdated). Use Rockbox Utility (just point it to some USB drive instead of the player. Or better, stop doing this "pre-patching" thing and just use Rockbox Utility for installation once the player arrived).

If I had to ask every time I stumble over some term, THAT would be an everlasting waste of time and that would rightfully annoy you...

As for the rest, I am not someone you can blame for not reading the manual. I actually read it from page one to the last (excluding most plugin related stuff) and I go back to it as a rule.
I don't think you should blame me either for having used something that was carefully put into it (the manual) too and then for asking what's wrong when that thing did not work for the first time in years. There were warnings indeed, but none saying "don't ask questions about this section".
I can see how much effort people including you have put into the manual, procedures, etc.. I assume you did knowing there are people who will have to put just as much effort into understanding some terms, procedures, etc...
I am grateful for all the work and time spent by the team on rockbox. I do agree on the fact it's better spending more time developping rockbox code itself than answering questions. But then it's your choice to answer or not, your choice to decide how  much time you devote to answering so who's annoying who ? Think about it as much as I think about your advice.

There are questions (quite a lot I admit) to which you may just answer by posting a blank message.

Some people would not understand, some (including me) would read what's there in your signature and think... or laugh... or both and everyone (including you) would feel good. I am not just blabing here, I am not wasting my time either. I do spend some time using my own skills for a good cause. I understand little to technical stuff but a little more to human stuff : greatest part of my job, in all meanings of the adjective.

As you might have read somewhere above I have done this "rbutility pointed at some drive" thing as soon as you suggested it AND I have been using the rockbox before AND I will use it after. I mean : I am reading and learning and hope this comforts you. I am also doing other things but I suggest you forgive forget about them.

Regards,

Just to let you know... I received the ClipZip and it works with no problem (or none worth mentioning here)

Nothing else matters...
