SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip won't start

(1/1)

Natsume:
Hi,

I installed Rockbox via the installer. Everything went fine, I transferred data and was listening to my music. But after disconnecting the Clip Zip from my PC without ejecting it the screen went black forever.

What I tried so far:
- resetting the device with the power button (20 sec, 30 sec)
- starting into the original firmware while connecting to USB port
- connecting to a power source before before the reset

Well, it's still dead...

SanDisk firmware: 01.01.20
Rockbox Revision: 2ef7a54
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 (optional: Win XP, Win 7)

Thanks for your help!

Update:

Unlike Ubuntu, Windows 7 at least notices that I try to connect a USB device but says "device not recognized". Theres is no way to access the player.

Anybody?

whiskers75:
Maybe let the player die, wait a few days and come back. (On Ubuntu, the command
--- Code: ---tail -f /var/log/kern.log
--- End code ---
shows up the kernel log, which may show up stuff about your player)

Natsume:
Thanks, whiskers.

After the battery was empty the Clip Zip turned off entirely. Now it was possible to load and restart the player. Phew...  :D

Anything to save those with that "AAAAH! Will I never see my beloved [blank] working again?" feeling.  :)
