The way the project works, is that developers work on the things that interest them, almost exclusively on devices they have physical access to, when they want to. As you can see from the link that AlexP gave in the previous post, making a port for a new device can be extremely non-trivial. It can take hundreds of person hours, even more.

The best thing you can do is follow as much of that link as it is possible for you to do. So, for example:

 - If possible, find a firmware upgrade.
 - If possible, figure out how the firmware upgrade process is handled.
 - Find out if the device be recovered from a bad firmware upgrade? ie. Is there a recovery mode?
 - If you are willing, or able to do so, take the device apart and provide high resolution scans of the PCB(s) showing the componentry.
 - Identify the componentry used in the device by looking up the part numbers, see if you can find datasheets for them.

Basically, find out as much information about the device as you can, and publish it on our wiki. The more information you can provide, the better.
It is important to note, though, that this doesn't necessarily mean that a port for the device will actually happen.

As I said above, developers work on what they want to work on, when they want to work on it, in their own time. And no one is getting paid for this. The developer(s) also needs access to the device in question. Donating a device could certainly help, but even then, no guarantees could be made.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
