How does the Sansa Clip+ load the OF - there is no code in the bootloader to suggest how, and what is the file DID.bin in the root directory of my player?

The OF is run directly from the flash by the hardware. The bootloader is appended onto it at install time and the OF patched to jump to our bootloader first, so if you want to run the OF the bootloader just jumps back to the OF's original entry point.
