Sansa Fuze v1: MIDI woes. Anyone have an *8 mb* General Midi patchset?
(1/1)
zyzzle:
I've got MIDI only partially working on my new Fuzev1. The problem I discovered, is that the Fuze only has 8 MB of total system RAM, and the tbgz patch referenced on the Rockbox Wiki, and which I downloaded was some 29 MB in size! So, I was getting MEMAlloc_BARF errors. I then located a ~9 MB General Midi patchset, but it differs from the standard 128 .pat files. Instead, there are 157 .pat files. Yes, I have the two .cfg files correctly placed in the /Rockbox/patchset directory along with the .pat files, and some MIDI files play just fine. The trouble is I think those 157 files replace and / or modify some of the standard instruments and I get errors on a great many .MIDI files which do not seem to be memory related.
So, does anybody have a link to a standard General MIDI 8 Megabyte patchset which has only the standard 128 .pat files?
I just tested a 1 MB patchset and it plays most files, but is quite tinny sounding. Would love to get a higher quality patchset working...

It'll need to be more like 5MB, because some of the RAM is used for Rockbox itself, the MIDI plugin, the output audio buffer, and the actual midi file itself ;)
