How Do I Use Patches?
(1/1)
Reece:
I have this little problem on my device witch I found a patch for, and I wan't to test it out to see if it helps. But I don't know how to use the patch code. I looked through the forums and manual but could not find anything on how to patch rockbox.
Can somone help? Or refer me to a forum post or manual page I missed? Thanks.

(note that it's a bit outdated as it still refers to svn while we now use git. See http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/UsingGit for details about that)
AlexP:
In short, the patch is applied to the source code, which you then compile.

Well I am trying to learn coding and such, but I have no idea how to patch rock box. I looked at the links and it all go's over my head. Even if I tried I would most likely mess something up. Is it possible for someone to patch it for me?! I would post the files needed as an attachment in this forum, and if its not too much trouble for anyone, they could patch it with the required patch, and then post those patched files on the forums, and then I would replace the original files with those new ones.
Is anyone willing to do that? Will that work?
