iPod Video battery life

I was wondering if anybody could tell me why my iPod's battery doesn't last for very long.  It won't stay on for longer than 2 hours playing music when fully charged.  I haven't tried playing video on it yet. It's a 30gb iPod video running the dev build.

saratoga:
Probably a dead battery.  Given its age, a 5G would probably have needed a replacement battery by now.

Thank you, I'll see if I can find a new battery, and if I can, if that was the problem.

soap:
If you save your current config file and post it somewhere I'll take a look at it to make sure you're not running any battery-killing settings.  I still use my 5th gen 60GB daily and get >16 hours of runtime on the original battery.  But it might be an outlier.

DMinor:
Swap the HDD for a CF card using the Tarkan adapter and replace with a new battery - you will find HUGE improvement to the battery life. This is from my own experience. I never could expected this much improvement before the swap.
