iPod differences
mk2soldier:
Hi! i'm new to this forum, anyway i've already a question for you guys..
Here: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IpodPort, i see that "5.5th Gen. 30 GB (Late 2006 Video)" and "5.5th Gen. 80 GB (Late 2006 Video)" are listed as different models..
I think that the only difference between these models was the size in GBytes of the Hard Disks, isn't that right?
;-)
gevaerts:
There are more differences, such as the 5.5G using 2048 byte sectors for its filesystem (a workaround for the 80GB disk they used being buggy and not handling odd sector addresses properly), and IIRC the LCDs are slightly different too.
bluebrother:
There's also the 80GB version having 64MiB RAM while the 30GB version has 32MiB.

True, but that's also true for the 5G 30GB vs 60GB

Thank you very much for all the replies, but now i have another question ;-)
Knowing the specific chip, will it be possible to replace the original module (32mb) with the more spacious one (64mb)?
Thank you again!
