codepage autodetect

(1/1)

maz-1:
I think codepage autodetect would be a useful feature for those who have songs from various countries, which means these songs' idv2 or idv3 tags may be written in different codepages.User can manually set several codepages that him meets most frequently for autodetecting.

gevaerts:
Correct id3v2 tags can't be written in random codepages. For id3v2.3 it's either latin1 or utf16,  id3v2.4 adds utf8 to the list.

If your tags are written by non-buggy software, you shouldn't have issues, unless you still use id3v1 (and if so, you should ask yourself why).

Apart from that, how would autodetection even work?

maz-1:
does it requires complicated algorithm to realize codepage autodetection?

Does an algorithm even exist to do that?
