Failed attempt to load RB on new Sansa Clip+
« on: December 12, 2012, 11:38:06 AM »
I get the RB logo ("Scanning disk....") and then a fuzzy screen...

Used the following:

Device: Sandisk Sansa Clip+ (Stable)
Original firmware: Clip+

Can anyone help?

Ok, managed to remove the bootloader and uninstall RB.  Re-installed and get exactly the same thing - quite literally a fuzzy screen.  How can I go about sorting this out?  I bought this thing with view to running RB for better sound quality.  Cheers!

Usually that means the file system is corrupt.

What do you mean by the file system?

Plug it into your computer and check the file system for errors.

Well, after trying to remove the Rockbox bootloader again, just like I did before (by updating with the Sansa Firmware), the player's now displaying the message "File not found", followed by "Plug USB cable".  I've dragged the Firmware file back in to the root directory, but still no luck.

Is that what you mean by the file system being corrupt?

Sandisk firmware updates have to be applied from inside the sandisk firmware.  Copy the file over and boot into it.

If you're not familiar with file system errors, check google.

Could you not explain what you mean in the context of my problem?  I'm running Ubuntu and am pretty new to it, so this is making it more confusing that it may otherwise be.  Your replies are appreciated.

Check your filesystem for errors. On Ubuntu :) that would be:
Code: [Select]
sudo fsck /dev/sd*
replacing sd* with your disk. Or, just use Disk Utility.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

On ubuntu, you don't need to bother with vfat - fsck does it for you :)
