Load only small part of playlist on startup, and the rest later

jsavinc:
Hi everyone,

I use my Clip+ with a 32gb SD card and I usually have all of my music shuffled in a huge playlist, which takes relatively long to load at startup. I was wondering if there was a simple way of having rockbox only load a small part of the playlist at startup and the rest in background once the player is up and running? Say, only the first 100 playlist entries or so.

JdGordon:
Why do you want this? is startup appearing to take too long to play music?

How long does it take from power button to music?

monoid:
It takes me 10 seconds to hear music since I press play. I have 120 GB SSD disk in iRiver H120. But maybe the reason is something else.

Yes, kind of. It takes ~10s during which time the player hasn't yet started playing and is unresponsive (apart from being able to cancel loading the playlist). It's just not as streamlined as using only the 8GB of internal storage, for example.

I would add, it takes +-10 s even if I choose repeat 1 directory (with only 20 files or so).
