ipod 6g battery
« on: December 08, 2012, 01:30:06 PM »
I have installed emCore 0.2.3 r859 on my Ipod 6g 160g I using the last realize of the rockbox  708bf1a-12/12/05. I follow all from the user guide to a large battery life and   lcd back-light brightness  in very low 5. But any way my battery goes empty super fast like in 6-7 h just ON whit not playing...
also in the Rockbox info menu says when battery full charge 18h.
I have some questions:
1 why my battery goes empty so fast?
2 what I have to do? to have a normal battery life?
3 who I reduce energy consume?
I want same battery life like when I was using itune$ battery was days and weeks  ON whit no going out...........
please help I don't want go back to itunes just for this Itunes is a nightmare !!!!

At this stage, there is no way you will be able to get the same runtime as you did with the original firmware.

The port is very young and there is a lot of fine tuning left to do, Rockbox makes no claims about the usability of this player (in fact, it is specifically labeled as 'unusable'). You are most certainly welcome to learn some C (and possibly some ARM ASM), set up a development environment, check out a copy of the Rockbox git repository, and see if you are able to make some contributions towards the further progress of the port if you would like to see the port status and usability advance in the future.

I think actually battery life on the 6 g is similar to the Apple firmware.

Hum...from my experience, we're around 75%.

It does, yes. I don't think this is a good sample, though. Battery is the number one complaint (other than missing features like recording/IAP) among Classic users. I haven't benched in a long time, since frequency scaling was introduced, that /probably/ helps. I see many reports of abysmal runtime in the freemyipod IRC channels, I'll start asking for a config.cfg if/when this occurs from now on. I'll set aside some time to do a full bench this weekend also.

It seems it is definitely /possible/ to outperform the Apple OF, but I have a hard time with saying we do so as a rule.
