Bricked Sansa Clip+?

(1/1)

bricked_box:
I'm really upset. I installed the stable release with the utility and it's killed my Clip+ dead.

It was working for a while and I was really enjoying the features. I ran a couple of the demos and then after I powered down it won't power back up.

I've tried multiple fixes and resets, including the linux fdisk based unbricking document. When I try and mount it in USB it doesn't even recognize as a drive anymore in any OS.

I'm really, really upset and distraught. I'm flat broke and I can't afford to replace it. I'm on disability and I have zero income. I rely on my mp3 player like a crutch to deal with PTSD and anxiety so I can get to doctor and therapy appointments.

Why does this even happen? How is it possible to break the hardware this way? I thought this was a stable build.

saratoga:
Hold the power button for 30 seconds.

bricked_box:
I've tried that. I've tried holding it for upwards of 10 minutes. I've tried left control button + volume up system reset.

I've tried all of the documented recovery and reboot attempts I can find including actually opening the player and trying the SansaAMSUnbrick method . (http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMSUnbrick)

I really wanted this to work. The features are amazing.

But now I have a dead mp3 player and I'm having a 6+ hour anxiety attack because I rely on my mp3 player like some people rely on a wheel chair. I'm fscking distraught and a feel like an idiot for fixing something that wasn't broken.

saratoga:
Assuming this is 3.12 the power should always work.  I guess you can try waiting for the battery to die and see if it reboots.

bricked_box:
It's 3.12, yeah.

I'm seeing reports online in various places with people with bricked clip+.

Why does this happen?
