SansaClip+ works one day, doesnt turn on the next, reboots firmware
(1/1)
rockyboxy:
Hi all,
I've installed the latest rockbox software in my clip+, using the latest sansa fw with the rockbox installation utility. After install, everything works great, rockbox turns on in an instant, plays mp3 and flac great etc. I can turn it off and on multiple times without an issue. I can also boot into the stock sansa firmware without an issue by holding "left" and power. I also have a 16GB class 6 SDHC samsung card in there.
But every day or so my sansa will not turn on. I tried the hold power for 30-60 seconds, tried holding left and power and tried holding home and power. Eventually it will come back on, I'm not sure which method works cause it will just come on out of nowhere.. It then says updating firmware like when I first installed rockbox and starts working again.
Any ideas why that happens? Am I missing something simple? Do you think the hardware is possibly bad?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I searched the forums, sorry if I missed a post with this issue, I cannot be the only one. :P

What build are you running?
rockyboxy:
rockbox version 3.12 (stable) and clipplus01.02.18 firmware.
EDIT: Gonna try Revision fb43a13
EDIT 2: Tried fb43a13, installed in the PM. Used the player for a few hours, turned it on and off multiple times without an issue. Turned it off for an hour or so, turned right back on with no problem. Powered it down and went to bed.. Woke up in the morning, pressed power and nothing. Held power for 30 secs, nothing. Tried all different button combos and nothing. Then just pressed power after a few mins and it turned right on again without a problem, didnt even give me the update firmware message. So now im more confused. :P
Any ideas? I'll try deleting rockbox and revert to the stock sansa and give it a test. I installed rockbox 10 minutes after buying the sansa so I dont know if stock will give me this issue too.
If I'm missing something and just being a noob, please tell me. ;D

Reverted to stock firmware. The problem has not happened once since. It would have happened a bunch of times by now with rockbox installed. I dont wanna give up on rockbox, anybody have any ideas for me? Thanks, much appreciated.

Hmmm..Strange. Your hardware _could_ be bad, I had an iPod that exhibited problems in Rockbox while not in the OF, and probably had a bad HDD.
I have a clip+, rockboxed from the start, and this doesn't happen. Tried on stable 3.12. Reinstall Rockbox and the bootloader, then HOLD power every boot to see the bootloader's messages. They'll flash past, but if your player gets stuck here that may be your problem.
