new to rockbox
« on: December 04, 2012, 01:31:35 PM »
I've read enough information on this forum and others to make my head spin and I'm still not sure of the answer so I figured it is time to just ask this question:
Can I connect a rockboxed ipod 5.5 to an amplifier using the line-out through the 30 pin connector? I want to use the DAC in the ipod but bypass the headphone output.
Thanks.

You can, although the line out doesn't by pass anything.  Its the same as the headphone out with the volume set to 0dB (which is line level).

Thanks. How about if I use the CCK and a USB connection to an external DAC, by-passing the internal one? I know I can do this with the stock apple firmware, just don't know if it will work with rockbox.

Won't work.  We don't have a USB audio driver, and the official apple devices require Apple's cryptographic keys to activate.

If you want a player with better output, you should just buy one.
