HiFiMan HM-601 slim : works.. one time !!
« on: December 03, 2012, 08:49:51 AM »
Hi, i tried an installation on HM-601 Slim...
There was no problem. You can see pics attached.
But it was only the first boot.. 2nd boot... blank screen !!
If i plug USB... make some reboots... once upon a time, i had a boot under RockBox !!
I reinstalled original firmware.. :(

At installation of original firmware 601.. the text referred to 801.. i think is only same text but different firmware BUT it's a suicide idea to test 801 rockbox bootloader on this 601-slim ??

(excuse my poor english from burgundy)

It's probably some bug in lcd detection routine, because I've already seen similar report about such problem.

So you should wait until I'll fix it.

No... for me: same result. One boot under Rockbox and for over boots >>> blank screen.
I think problem is in the bootloader(rockbox) inserted in HM-601.img.  :-\

Thks for help.

Not from our build farm, no.

You can easily enable logging if you were to compile your own build, though.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Honestly, I have no idea why it doesn't work for you. Build that i provided initializes lcd the same way as in official firmware v0.11.
And one guy with the same issue as yours reported that those builds helped him.

Good news. I find out that I misundertstood disassembly of v0.11 firmware. I'm pretty sure that this version will work https://www.box.com/s/j2zt027eqj0h4vw00qr3

Hi!

I was having this same problem with one-time good boot after which I get grainy, inverted or simply blank screen boots.
I've just installed your new version and it works fine with one or two strange glitches.

Firstly - if I pushed Power switch but will let it go before Rockbox is fully loaded, I was getting grainy and higly pixelated screen which looks kind of strange but is usable anyways. Sometimes instead I got rainbow noise screen without any text but I still could get the player to play songs by just navigating blindly.
I've had no such glitches if I held the Power button until the end of the boot cycle and, after 5-10 cycles I can get no such glitches anymore despite trying to release the Power button early, but I am still  wondering - can this be a sign that something is still wrong and can this be harmful for the player?

Oh, and thanks for the whole rockbox thing and all your work btw
