Sansa Fuze V2 LOD inquiry

I have a Fuze V2 and understand there might be a patch to enable the LOD capability (or maybe it runs this natively in the current build release?)  Running RB V3.12.

Several questions:

1. Assume that this patch is compatible with the latest release 3.12?
2. How is the patch applied - assume the patch files are copied to a specific directory on the player?

1)  Most likely.
2)  You apply the patch to the source code, compile it, and then install the build you just compiled.

The last code I compiled was Fortran on an IBM 370 mainframe in 1980..

Could someone (Holiday benevolence?) provide a compiled file??  :-\
