sansa c200 buttons config

(1/1)

tavergalarga:
hi,

I got a big problem. I was using my c200 rockbox, but then I dropped down to the floor and broke the plastic screen near to the power buton, after that some water came close to the power button and it did not work. for this reason I disassemble the device, removing the plastic and removing the screen keyboard, the keyboard I raise this double and broke and made a short circuit and stay forward button pressed, after that try to fix that by cutting the power button and the led, this worked a couple of days but the short circuit followed. I try to use it but does not work very well, so I need to know how to make a new keyboard. sorry for my english I`m not an english speaker.
note: I pump. The the keyboard (I was mad) switch it on with usb port and it start playing, can I change button configuration, in order to use volumen buttons as backward and forward buttons. or somethin like that.

thanks for your help.

The keymaps are defined in the source code in apps/keymaps/keymap-c200.c

You can edit the defines in there and then recompile a build for your player.  Note that these files only change buttons in rockbox, the sandisk firmware and bootloader will not be changed.

It might be worth looking into trying to find a second hand C200 and salvaging the faceplate from that...? It has been a long time since I have owned or disassembled a C200 but if I remember correctly the button assembly is included as a part of the faceplate itself and is actually surprisingly sturdy (yet not water resistant, apparently ;)).

Occasionally devices pop up for sale with broken LCDs, rendering it useless with regard to the original firmware, such a device would be the perfect candidate to salvage parts from.

The bonus here, perhaps, is that the device needn't necessarily be functional and if it is you could use it instead of the one you have currently and keep the broken one around for spare parts.

I make no assumptions about your financial state, but I can say that a brief look around the "usual sites" (eBay et al) suggests you would be able to purchase a functional second hand C200 for as little as $20 USD delivered.

Worth consideration, possibly.
