ClipZip Track Index

Had my ClipZip for a while and there are two features from the standard firmware I miss!

1. Elapsed/Total time display. (I know Rockbox has this one!) :)

2. Track number... This doesn't seem to get mentioned in the WPS section of the manual. Can you display currently playing track number? And I'm not talking about from tags here! I don't care what track an mp3 thinks it is because it was encoded with a program that always puts something here (most likely a 1.)

Basically I always browse via Folder structure and play a folder, thus play it alphabetically (I've got used to the standard firmware putting Capitalised initials first but either way isn't a bother.) I very much miss having a 3/10 (for example)  telling me I am playing the 3rd track out of 10 in that folder though! Or say it was a Playlist, rather than folder, same principle...

So does Rockbox have the second of these, as well as the first? If not could it be made a request for the ClipZip version.

bluebrother:
All of this is part of the theme. A theme might show those information or not. The default theme does (not completely sure if this is true for the Clip Zip but it is on other players).

Assuming by "track number" you actually mean "playlist entry number".

AlexP:
Lots of themes here:  http://themes.rockbox.org

Thought it probably was available, although didn't seem to be mentioned in the manual for the While Playing Screen.

--- Quote ---4.3. While Playing Screen
The While Playing Screen (WPS) displays various pieces of information about the currently
playing audio file. The appearance of the WPS can be configured using WPS
configuration files. The items shown depend on your configuration – all items can be
turned on or off independently. Refer to section D (page 167) for details on how to
change the display of the WPS.
• Status bar: The Status bar shows Battery level, charger status, volume, play mode,
repeat mode, shuffle mode and clock. In contrast to all other items, the status bar
is always at the top of the screen.
• (Scrolling) path and filename of the current song.
• The ID3 track name.
The Rockbox manual (version unknown-121117) Sansa Clip Zip
Chapter 4. Browsing and playing 29
• The ID3 album name.
• The ID3 artist name.
• Bit rate. VBR files display average bitrate and “(avg)”
• Elapsed and total time.
• A slidebar progress meter representing where in the song you are.
• Peak meter.
See section 13.2 (page 147) for details of customising your WPS (While Playing
Screen).

I only very briefly skimmed the section on Themes later. Wasn't sure if this kind of thing would be on every Rockbox version, or if there might be differences for the Clip Zip port...

As I very clearly state in my first post I don't use Playlists but always navigate and play via Folder Structure. So it would be the X track out of Y in the folder. Similar idea though, yeah.

saratoga:
In Rockbox when you play a folder you're actually making a playlist, so the number you want is probably the playlist index rather then the track number.
