Battery Capacity Menu item setting?

The battery capacity setting menu item has settings from 1500mah to over 3000mah, but most players have batteries UNDER 1500mah.  I assume that the software scales this setting to something that actually makes sense for the particular port in question, but I don't see anything in the manual about this.  I set this item to the lowest possible setting for my Gigabeat F, but I'm not sure that the battery gauge is being anywhere near accurate.   Does anybody know more about this?

The battery gauge doesn't depend on the capacity.  Its only users for the time remaining. Unless you've changed the battery just leave it at default.
