Used magenta for transparent space in peak meter, intermittently obscures stuff
« on: November 12, 2012, 03:38:33 AM »
I'm only in the process of learning how to make themes, so in order to design the one I'm working on, I downloaded a pre-existing one (Peakgreen) and changed it up a bit. Just to be clear, I don't plan on distributing it or anything, because it doesn't seem right to take something that was mostly created by someone else and pass it as my own. It's just a little thing to play around with for myself.

Anyway, I changed the left and right peak meters on the one I'm building, and made it so that the peak meters are two semi-circles surrounding the progress bar/duration info. I made it so the peak meter bmp's use pure magenta to make the inside of the circle magenta, but when I put it to work (in the UI sim) the stuff inside the circle will flash on and off. It's as if it's being redrawn each time the peak meter changes and it takes some time to load or something.

Could someone give it a try and tell me what they think about how to solve this?

I uploaded the theme.
NOTE: The file extension is .txt, but it is really a .zip so the extension needs to be changed. I know this may be against the rules, but opening the file as a txt will NOT cause any issues, it is completely safe, so I don't think anyone will be hurt by this.

This theme runs on the Sansa Clip Zip.

Thanks peeps :)

You're right. Any idea how else I could upload the theme? Don't know what other options I have except uploading each file individually.

By the way, will the theme work without all the bmp's present? Because if so, it wouldn't be too hard to only send the few relevant bmp's and the two text files.

Are the view ports intersecting? Because view ports can not be overlapped. View ports do not support transparency. So if you have an empty view port over another view-port with text or whatever in it. You will not be able to see that port because it is covered by another.
If you do have overlapping view-ports, that is why it is flickering, because the peak meter is constantly updating itself. Does the flickering stop when you pause the music?
