I've replaced the HD in Ipod mini's directly with CF cards up to 16GB and currently have a 32GB CF card replacing a disk in my GB F10 using an IDE 1.8" to CF adapter. Now I wonder if those CF<->SD adapters (that let you put an SD card in your CF device) will work with either of these players. Anybody tried this?
I recently found my GB F10 which I had left on the desk after it started showing "system error" on boot up. The last time it did this the CF card had gotten corrupted and needed to be reflashed. But that was with an older and slower 16GB card, the 32GB card it has in it now had worked for almost a year. I finally opened up the player to remove the card to reflash it only to find that the cable connector had fallen out of the adapter's socket! After reconnecting it the GB booted right up! (I think some glue may be in order here).
Prices have gone up on CF cards since most new cameras now use SD cards. 64GB HDXC SD cards are now cheaper than CF cards, hence my interest in the adapters. I still have lots of room on my 32GB F10, but I'm looking for the upgrade path.
