Here's the problem....
I have a DVD series with sixteen episodes. Ripped them all to m4v with Handbrake using the default settings.
Now I am trying to convert them to mpeg2 for Rockbox on my Sansa Fuze.
Seven of them converted perfectly using winff, nine of them get an error message ("No such file" or something) in the command window that winff pops up.
Same general results using VLC, conversion gave an unplayable result on the same files, although all sixteen original m4v's play fine in VLC.
Since they were all ripped from disk using the exact same program and settings, I have no way to know how to correct the source files.
And since this is not the place for ffmpeg/VLC support, I thought I'd try all the conversion methods listed under Rockbox mpegplayer before giving up.

Found the problem. Handbrake had put some unreadable characters in the output filenames. Renamed 'em and ffmpeg worked fine. Thanks!
