OPUS status
« on: October 24, 2012, 03:24:15 AM »
Hi,

I'm confused on the opus-issue. I read on identica that some users already are playing opus-coded files on their Rockbox-driven devices. But I can't find any note on this in the release notes and my Sansa Clip V2 refuses to play a test-file I coded.
So, simple question - can Rockbox play opus-files in the current stable release?

No, you will need to install a development build.

On my sansa e200:

bitrate = 12 (audiobook) plays fine
bitrate = 64 plays ok, but noticeable lag in controls (changing volume, jump forward, etc) and display update
bitrate = 128 starts playing ok, but operating controls results in lockup, stuttering playback, message about shutting down for dead battery (it isn't).  Have to do hard shutdown to get out of this.
